TOLEDO – Ava Buddelmeyer hammered 15 kills and Olivia Smith had nine in leading Findlay to a straight set 27-25, 25-16, 25-21 win over Toledo Whitmer in Wednesday's Northern Lakes League volleyball match.
Buddelmeyer also had 10 assists and seven digs for the Trojans, who have won four of their last six games to improve to 11-7 overall, 5-6 in the league.
Erin Caton had 21 assists, 13 digs and three aces against Whitmer. Molly Crates (5 assists) had a team-high 29 digs for the Trojans, who now head into a three-game home stretch where they will face Toledo Bowsher on Monday, Sylvania Northview on Tuesday and Napoleon on Thursday when the FHS freshmen, junior varsity and varsity teams will stage a Volley for the Cure event aimed at raising awareness for the early detection of breast cancer. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. that day and anyone wearing a Volley for the Cure t-shirt will be admitted free.
